Before we arrive

  • Measure the opening width, height and wall thickness if you can, and photograph it
  • Clear furniture and floor covering from both sides of the opening
  • Say whether the door swings left or right, and which way it opens
  • Note whether the house was built before 1978, since painted frames need lead-safe handling
